Women in their 40s should stop routinely having annual mammograms and older women should cut back to one scheduled exam every other year, an influential federal task force has concluded, challenging the use of one of the most common medical tests.
In its first reevaluation of breast cancer screening since 2002, the independent government-appointed panel recommended the changes, citing evidence that the potential harm to women having annual exams beginning at age 40 outweighs the benefit.
Coming amid a highly charged national debate over health-care reform and simmering suspicions about the possibility of rationing medical services, the recommendations immediately became enveloped in controversy.
“We’re not saying women shouldn’t get screened. Screening does saves lives,” said Diana B. Petitti, vice chairman of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, which released the recommendations Monday in a paper being published in Tuesday’s Annals of Internal Medicine. “But we are recommending against routine screening. There are important and serious negatives or harms that need to be considered carefully.”
This is certainly a surprising move by the feds. Researchers discovered that it was because of breast cancer screenings that women with breast cancer have a 14 percent higher survival rate in the United States than in Europe. Breast cancer mortality is 52 percent higher in Germany than in the United States, and 88 percent higher in the United Kingdom. Breast cancer mortality is also 9 percent higher in Canada than in the US. Less than 25 percent of U.S. women die from breast cancer. In Britain, it’s 46 percent; France, 35 percent; Germany, 31 percent; Canada, 28 percent; Australia, 28 percent, and New Zealand, 46 percent.

When the Obama White House is not “saving or creating” fantasy jobs here at home they’re “saving or creating” manufacturing jobs in China.
The Obama Stimulus Plan will help pay for a $1.5 billion wind farm in Texas. The project will mean thousands of new jobs for wind turbine manufacturers… in China. The Dallas News reported:
Two weeks ago, U.S. Renewable Energy Group, led by Dallas investor Cappy McGarr, announced plans to build a $1.5 billion wind energy farm in West Texas. About a third of the money would come from federal stimulus funds. All of the wind turbines (and much of the remaining investment capital) would come from China.
“We believe that this project will greatly contribute to job creation, the goals of the Obama administration and our desire to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and increase our energy independence,” McGarr said in announcing the deal.
There would be perhaps 330 jobs created in Texas. Most would be temporary construction jobs. Meanwhile, thousands of Chinese workers in the northeastern industrial city Shenyang would build the labor-intensive turbines.
Most of the wind energy projects seeking money under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act rely on foreign-made turbines. Even the industry we have here at home, led by GE, is looking abroad. GE’s technology will power the gearboxes of the turbines for the U.S. Renewable Energy Group. The gearboxes will be made in China.
U.S. companies emerging from the financial shocks of the last year haven’t started investing in American factory jobs. Richard Fisher, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, told an Austin audience last week that the company CEOs he speaks with are more interested in investing abroad.
That doesn’t fit with the administration’s plans. To fix the big economic imbalances of the U.S. economy, administration economists say, Americans must save more, import less and sell more U.S. goods to the world. This is particularly important in the U.S. relationship with China, which is America’s biggest creditor.
Democrats, with union support, included a “Buy America” provision in the stimulus bill. This hasn’t proved to be an obstacle to moving ahead with wind projects that rely on foreign-made turbines.
When the wind is right, the U.S. Renewable project would generate more than 600 megawatts of electricity, or enough for 180,000 homes. Texas has long recognized such energy projects as a public good and provides incentives to support them.
Only 30 of the 330 jobs created in Texas will be fulltime jobs after the project is complete.

In September, Lieberman told The Advocate that while he supports health care reform, he would not vote for a health care bill that included a public, or government-funded, option.

Chinese communist President Hu Jintao praised Obama’s recognition of mainland China’s sovereignty over the democratic Taiwan. Reuters reported:
Chinese President Hu Jintao hailed U.S. President Barack Obama’s recognition of sovereignty issues dear to China, after a bilateral meeting in Beijing on Tuesday.
“China approves of President Obama’s repeated reiteration of the one-China principle,” Hu told reporters.
Hu referred to China’s “sovereignty over Taiwan and other matters” during a state visit in which some Western analysts had predicted that China would also demand an explicit declaration by Washington of China’s sovereignty over the restive frontier regions of Tibet and Xinjiang.
Washington switched diplomatic recognition from Taipei, capital of self-ruled Taiwan, to Beijing in 1979 but remains the island’s main arms supplier.
Obama did not meet Tibet’s exiled spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, when he was in Washington in early October. But the Dalai Lama has said they may meet after Obama returns from China, which condemns the Buddhist monk as a separatist for demanding Tibetan self-determination.

The woman who was John McCain’s running mate last year hails the tea party movement. She says that the McCain campaign was wrong to support the first bailout package.
“That very first bailout, yes. Now we have learned, too, it didn’t fulfill the promises that were made by Congress, and by the White House, that bailing out these businesses that were ‘too big to fail,’ ” Palin said. “That did not put our economy back on the right track. So we learn from our mistakes. The tea party movement, beautiful. It energizes our country. More power to these people who are showing up there.”

CNN reporters were even detained by police after showing an Obama-Communist T-shirt on the air.

Our search for the “communist Obama” T-shirt began with a capable intern scouring markets in Beijing. It depicts President Obama wearing a Red Army uniform, the “Chinese communist-style” outfit made famous by Chairman Mao. On the front it says “Serve the People” in Chinese. On the back, “Oba-Mao” in English.
Our first scan of Beijing turned up nothing. But a tip led us to the basement of Shin Kong Place. In an unassuming souvenir shop, we found a T-shirt in extra-large. During our flight from Beijing to Shanghai to cover the President’s arrival, a news blitz indicated the shirts had been “banned” by the Chinese government amid worries that they may offend the American president.
Thank goodness we’d gotten ours in time! But there was no way to confirm the government had indeed taken the shirts off the shelves, so we decided to check for ourselves. We headed to Yatai Xinyang market at a Shanghai metro stop in search of Obama-branded merchandise.
The Chinese also make wallets and trading cards featuring the “Communist Obama” image.
We found nothing, but could not be sure they hadn’t sold them there before. So, I chose that opportune moment to do a piece to camera with the shirt in hand. Bad move? Maybe. But it ended up being great television.
Two security guards happened to pass by at the moment I announced to the camera: “This is the T-shirt everybody is talking about.” And that was it. They scrambled towards us and tried to pry the shirt out of my hands. I didn’t give in.
There was a bit of yelling and quite a scuffle. My producer Jo Kent emphatically stated our case. Photographer Miguel Castro kept his cool. By this point, we had everything on tape.
We ended up being detained for two hours in the cold, maze of a market. A crowd gathered round. More security and then police showed up. They wanted our press cards, our passports, but most of all, they wanted the shirt.
It was worth it. The shirt got attention on the air and sparked buzz online. In fact, some members of the White House pool and a few colleagues in Atlanta actually tried to bribe me for it.
Of course, it surprises no one that the state-run media would be fighting over the commie gear.
It was all a sham.
Obama admitted to a group of Chinese students that he’d never used Twitter today.

Just as soon as he passes his nationalized health care plan that will raise the costs of health care by $289 billion over the next 10 years.

Obama tripled the US deficit his first year in office. His October budget deficit was greater than Bush’s 2007 budget deficit for the entire year.
President Barack Obama has promised Asia’s creditor nations that Washington will not let US borrowing spiral out of control, vowing a major drive to cut the budget deficit and restore global confidence in the US dollar.
“As the economy recovers, I intend to take serious steps to reduce America’s long-term deficit,” he told the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) forum in Singapore. “Debt-driven growth cannot fuel America’s long-term prosperity.”
The assurance comes amid growing doubts across the world over the wisdom of White House spending plans. The US Congressional Budget Office expects the deficit to remain around $1.8 trillion (£600bn) as far ahead as 2019 under current plans, pushing the US national debt into the danger zone.

I wonder if you are aware about the rapidly snowballing nationwide campaign AGAINST the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD). One week from today, next Sunday, November 22, will be the annual bishops’ collection for CCHD in almost every Catholic church in America.
BIG NEWS is this: A few of the bishops have decided not to take up the collection–because of CCHD’s funding of ACORN, Saul Alinsky’s Industrial Areas Foundation, several other Alinsky-connected groups, many Marxist “social justice” and “social development” groups…
Think about that: On one hand, the bishops are all over Capitol Hill promoting the pro-life Stupak Amendment to the leftist health-care bill; on the other, they’re giving money to leftist groups that promote–surprise, surprise–abortion!
Some of us have been objecting to the ACORN funding for years. It took the Rathke embezzlement scandal to finally get CCHD to cut off ACORN funding last spring. But dozens of other leftist, sometimes blatantly Democrat-Party-building groups have gotten hundreds of thousands of dollars in contributions by well-intentioned Catholic parishioners who donated to “help the poor”–not knowing that the bishops were allowing their money to go to such objectionable organizations.
Richard A. Viguerie, a a conservative figure and writer on American politics, has written to other Catholic lay men and women throughout the nation to inform them of the nature of the organizations which are supported by the Campaign for Human Development. You probably think you’ve never given money to ACORN and its allies. But if you’ve contributed to the annual November Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) appeal of the Catholic bishops, you’ve done just that.
Each November, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops asks Catholics across the United States to contribute to the CCHD. Until last year, much of this money collected by the bishops’ appeal was funneled directly to ACORN.
Are you going to again let the bishops use your contributions — money that’s intended for charity — to promote extreme left-wing causes such as taxpayer-funded abortion-on-demand?
Or are you going to take the ACTION STEPS listed below, to stop charity money from being diverted into causes you (and most Catholics) find abhorrent?
Scandals have forced the bishops to stop funding ACORN directly, but they still fund other groups closely tied to ACORN — groups that have the same aims and that use the same methods to promote a left-wing, extremist agenda.
Catholics are led to believe that their contributions to CCHD are used to help the poor — funding soup kitchens, homeless shelters, and other worthwhile projects that provide aid to the least fortunate among us.
In fact, it appears almost none of the money goes to the poor.
Rather, it goes to organizations that engage in “community organizing” to promote a political agenda that many Catholics would find abhorrent, if only they knew. CCHD’s stated goal is “breaking the cycle of poverty,” but CCHD-funding organizations support policies that make it next to impossible for the poor to escape their circumstances.
It’s time for America’s Catholics to rise up, let their voices be heard.
This group of conservative Catholics is urging church members not to participate in the CCHD Drive until the Catholic Church can guarantee that the funds are not going to radical organizations like ACORN that oppose the Catholic church doctrine.
We can say that to only lower your head is not so good for a Japanese bow. You will give the impression that your bow falls short. There are also the cases of somebody bowing their head repeatedly. In doing this, one might think you are paying the deepest respect and consideration, are being polite, etc., but the sentiment which should be expressed in the Japanese bow fails to be expressed doing this. When bowing while standing, their is the “highest respectful bow” (saikeirei), which is executed from a position of standing straight upward, and then bending 45-degrees or more. “Respectful bow” is at 30-to-40 degrees, and everyday “eshaku” around 15-degrees.
“Saikeirei” is not seen on a regular basis, but is used in order to offer an apology, or when one is extremely grateful for something received, as well as performed before the altar of Shinto shrines and Bhuddist temples. In case of a handshake, straighten the back, and by all means one must look directly into the face (eyes) of the recipient of one’s handshake. It is not to be too strong and not too light. Too strong will reflect an insult and too weak will not reflect good will. In America, such a weak handshake is called a “dead fish handshake”, with the feeling being that the person wielding a dead fish. And, shaking a hand while performing a bow will be seen as subservient (”servile”, “supple”, “mean”), and is not to be done.
It just wouldn’t be the same if Obama went abroad without trashing Bush or America…

“I know that the United States has been disengaged from these organizations in recent years.So let me be clear: those days have passed,” Obama said during the first major address of a four-country Far East swing, which will continue from Japan to Singapore, China and South Korea. “As an Asia Pacific nation, the United States expects to be involved in the discussions that shape the future of this region, and to participate fully in appropriate organizations as they are established and evolve,” Obama said.

Thus those who speak out against Islam are outed as racists, potentially putting Americans in harms way.

They’re now erroneously reporting on the book’s contents and are repeating many of the same things they spewed during the campaign and afterwards. We’ve heard 11 writers are engaged in this opposition research, er, “fact checking” research! Imagine that – 11 AP reporters dedicating time and resources to tearing up the book, instead of using the time and resources to “fact check” what’s going on with Sheik Mohammed’s trial, Pelosi’s health care takeover costs, Hasan’s associations, etc. Amazing.
We’ll keep setting the record straight, and we’ll keep reminding some in the media that Americans are very tired of their non-objective reporting. Barack Obama voted 4 times to support infanticide.
So is it really that surprising that the radical Obama White House will yank the abortion funding ban from the democrat’s nationalized health care plan? Life News reported:
Top Obama advisor David Axelrod on Sunday confirmed what pro-life advocates already suspected would happen. He said President Barack Obama will work with congressional Democrats to remove the abortion funding ban the House approved in its version of the government-run health care bill.
Axelrod says that, because the Stupak amendment allegedly goes beyond the status quo under the Hyde amendment (which bans abortion funding under Medicaid), Obama will make sure the amendment is yanked during the conference committee.
That’s the part of the legislative process that will occur if and when the Senate approves its own health care bill, which will likely start debate with abortion funding.
ACORN is the largest radical Leftist group in America today.

One of Barack Obama’s first big “community organizer” jobs involved ACORN in 1992. He has been working along side ACORN since before he became an elected official. Obama also trained ACORN employees. He represented ACORN in court. Obama worked with and protested with ACORN. His campaign donated $800,000 to ACORN in 2008 for voter registration efforts.
And, ACORN even canvassed for Obama last year.
But now that ACORN is under investigation in Louisiana the White House is trying to distance itself further from the corrupt organization according to Rep. Steve King (R-IA). The Hill reported, via FOX Nation:
Newly appointed White House counsel Bob Bauer is “perfectly positioned to be tasked with erasing the tracks between Obama and ACORN,” one Republican lawmaker charged Friday.
The lawyer’s hiring, announced this morning shortly after Greg Craig officially resigned the post, was also an attempt by the White House to deflect any fallout that may arise from an ACORN investigation currently underway in Louisiana, Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) added in a statement.
“Bob Bauer has a public record of defending Barack Obama’s relationship with ACORN, the congressman told supporters. “Bauer’s hiring appears to be a tactical maneuver to strategically defend the White House exactly one week after Louisiana Attorney General Buddy Caldwell raided ACORN’s national headquarters in New Orleans and seized paper records and computer hard drives that may lead to the White House.”
However, the link between Bauer, the president and ACORN’s Louisiana office is long, winding and confusing, at best.
According to King, Bauer — who worked for Obama during his 2008 presidential campaign — was they key player in a politicized fight between the campaign and President George W. Bush’s Justice Department over an investigation of suspected ACORN voting fraud.

According to an economic impact analysis by the Obama administration, the federal purchase and operation of Thomson could generate $1 billion for the local economy over four years and create between 2,340 and 3,250 jobs.
Of course, these jobs will be supported by US taxpayers. The administration did not release figures that show how much more money they will blow by having these killers held in Illinois rather than at Gitmo.

President Obama told the leaders of Burma to release pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi today. Aung San Suu Kyi has been under house arrest for 14 years.

US President Barack Obama has urged Burma’s prime minister to release the pro-democracy leader, Aung San Suu Kyi.
Mr Obama delivered the message as he met leaders of the Asean grouping of south-east Asian nations in Singapore.
White House press secretary said Mr Obama raised the issue “directly” with General Thein Sein.
Ms Suu Kyi’s house arrest was extended in August beyond the elections planned for next year. She has spent 14 years in detention in the past two decades.
Hundreds of people sat inside the Mizner Amphitheater, paying close attention to the presentation, but outside, it was a different story.
A large group of protesters gathered just steps away from where former Vice President Al Gore was speaking.
“If you follow the money, it tells you all you need to know about Al Gore he is making millions off all this energy stuff he is selling,” said Meg Shannon, with the South Florida Tea Party.
Many of the protesters were with the groups Collegians for a Constructive Tomorrow and South Florida Tea Party.
The protesters accused Gore of selling snake oil in green bottles.

World leaders attending the APEC meeting in Singapore decided to scrap any agreement at next month’s global warming conference in Copenhagen.

After a two-day Asia-Pacific summit, they vowed to work towards an “ambitious outcome” in Copenhagen.
But the group dropped a target to halve greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, which was outlined in an earlier draft.
Leaders also vowed to pursue a new strategy for growth after the world’s worst economic crisis in decades.
They resolved to conclude the Doha round of global trade talks in 2010.
In a joint declaration issued at the end of their two-day annual summit, they said: “We firmly reject all forms of protectionism and reaffirm our commitment to keep markets open and refrain from raising new barriers to investment or to trade in goods and services.”

The first female class of Iraq’s police officer training academy graduated this past week. The New York Times reported:
As one, the stony faces broke into a free-for-all of kisses, hugs and tears on Monday as the 50 women who called themselves the Lioness group became the first female graduates of Iraq’s police officer training academy.
On a vast concrete parade ground, the women joined 1,050 male classmates in what American military officers, who provided advice on the training, called a step forward for the country and its women.
“Some people have a view of Iraqi women that for them to join the police academy is a shame,” said Alla Nozad Falih, 22, wearing a star on her epaulet that marked her as a first lieutenant. Like about half of the group’s members, she wore her hair uncovered except by a uniform blue beret, and like 26 of her female classmates, she joined the academy after finishing law school.
The job of officer in the national police force is among the highest paying available in Iraq, but also one of the most dangerous; officers and trainees are favorite targets of insurgents.
In 2007 Barack Obama said that possibility of genocide was not a good enough reason to keep US forces in Iraq.

The Dem’s nationalized health care plan will increase costs $289 billion. The Hill reported:
The House-approved healthcare overhaul would raise the costs of healthcare by $289 billion over the next 10 years, according to an analysis by the chief actuary at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
The CMS report is a blow to the White House and House Democrats who have vowed that healthcare reform would curb the growth of healthcare spending. CMS’s analysis is not an apples-to-apples comparison to the cost estimate conducted by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) and the Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) because CMS did not review tax provisions, which help offset the price tag of the Democrats’ measure.

A leading authority on counter-insurgency, adviser to the British government and former adviser to General David Petraeus warned that Obama’s dithering and waffling on Afghanistan could likely lead to disaster. The Guardian reported, via HotAir:
A key adviser to Nato forces warned today that Barack Obama risks a Suez-style debacle in Afghanistan if he fails to deploy enough extra troops and opts instead for a messy compromise.
David Kilcullen, one of the world’s leading authorities on counter-insurgency and an adviser to the British government as well as the US state department, said Obama’s delay in reaching a decision over extra troops had been “messy”. He said it not only worried US allies but created uncertainty the Taliban could exploit.
Speaking in an interview with the Guardian, he compared the president to someone “pontificating” over whether to send enough firefighters into a burning building to put a fire out.
He was speaking as Obama left Washington for a nine-day trip to Asia without announcing a decision on troop numbers. The options being considered by the US have been narrowed down to four: sending 10,000, 20,000, 30,000 or 40,000, the latter the figure requested by the Nato commander in Afghanistan, General Stanley McChrystal. These would be on top of 68,000 US troops already deployed.
The deep divisions with the Obama administration were exposed yesterday by leaked diplomatic cables from the US ambassador in Afghanistan, Karl Eikenberry, who urged Obama to ignore McChrystal’s request unless the Afghan president, Hamid Karzai, cleaned up his corrupt government.
It’s perfectly normal to expend this kind of energy on someone who’s “irrelevant” and a “quitter” and whose 15 minutes of political fame have already been used up, right?

Though it would seem unlikely that our President would introduce a controversial immigration reform strategy on the cusp of a healthcare decision in the Senate, he did indeed do that today.
DHS Secretary Napolitano introduced a broad outline for reform during a speech to the Center for America Progress this morning. In it she cited the many advances DHS has made in securing the US Border with Mexico. One of the centerpieces of this effort is the screening of 100% of southbound rail shipments for weapons and cash. While that sounds like a good thing for Mexico the logical question is this: What percent of northbound rail shipments are “screened” and what does “screening mean? Not to sound cynical but this Administration does not have a good record when it comes to spin and telling the absolute truth. The President demonstrated that clearly last week with Healthcare Reform.
The plan calls for a path to citizenship for the 11 million illegal aliens already in the US. On this the administration also seems a bit out of touch. That the vast majority of Mexican illegal invaders according to a recent Zogby Poll have no interest in becoming American Citizens and regardless would hold primary allegiance to Mexico is apparently lost on the President and Secretary Napolitano.
No wonder Pelosi and the democrats don’t seem worried that their radical anti-capitalist agenda will sway voters in the 2010 election.
More Hope & Change– Obama’s October Deficit topped Bush’s Deficit for All of 2007
Team Obama was off on their October budget predictions by nearly $20 billion.
The deficit for the first month of the 2010 fiscal year reached $176 billion.
(It must be Bush’s fault, right?) The Wall Street Journal reported:
The federal government kicked off fiscal year 2010 by posting its widest-ever October budget deficit, the Treasury Department said Thursday.
The $176.36 billion gap is more than $20 billion wider than the shortfall recorded in October 2008, driven up by lower tax receipts, stimulus-related revenue reductions and consistently high government outlays.
…The October deficit figure is wider than the Congressional Budget Office’s estimate for a $175 billion deficit in the month and wider than the $165.9 billion expected by analysts surveyed by Dow Jones Newswires.
President George Bush never did this.
Obama tripled the national deficit his first year in office and he’s off to a record-setting start in fiscal year 2010.
Despite the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, Hurricane Katrina, the Clinton Recession he inherited, and the 9-11 attacks, President Bush brought down the national budget deficit from 412 billion dollars in 2004 to 162 billion dollars in 2007.
On July 11, 2006, the Bush Administration announced they were revising midyear budget estimates. They changed their projections after they discovered that greater than expected tax revenues would drop the deficit below 300 billion dollars. Budget Director Rob Portman drove home the message later that day telling reporters that this latest revision was proof that the administration’s tax cuts were working.
This wasn’t a one time event. During the Bush years, despite the 2000 Recession, the attacks on 9-11, the stock market scandals, Hurricane Katrina, and wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Bush Administration was able to reduce the budget deficit from 412 billion dollars in 2004 to 162 billion dollars in 2007, a sixty percent drop. In 2004 the federal budget deficit was 412 billion dollars. In 2005 it dropped to 318 billion dollars. In 2006 the deficit dipped to 248 billion dollars. And, in 2007 it fell below 200 billion to 162 billion dollars. During the Bush years the average unemployment rate was 5.2 percent, the economy saw the strongest productivity growth in four decades and there was robust GDP growth.
Then again Bush cut taxes while Obama has decided to spend his way out of this recession.

Barack Obama’s close family friends the Marxist terrorists Billy Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn claim that Hillary Clinton appealed to white supremacy during the campaign last year.
The couple wrote about the election in the latest edition of the Socialist Monthly Review. World Net Daily reported, via FOX Nation:
Hillary Clinton’s 2008 campaign for the Democrat nomination deliberately appealed to white supremacy, fear and anxiety, charged longtime Barack Obama colleague and Weatherman terrorist William Ayers and wife, Bernardine Dohrn.
In a co-authored article in the socialist Monthly Review magazine, the two radicals argued last year’s national elections had “racist” undertones and that President Obama’s ascent to power can be used to “build a new society.”
“[Hillary] Clinton flagrantly appealed to white voters’ identity as ‘workers’ or ‘women’ – offering white people any reason to vote against Obama without saying he’s black – and followed the ancient and dismal road of racial discourse that appeals to white supremacy, fear and anxiety,” wrote Ayers and Dohrn.
The two referenced a New York Times opinion piece by feminist activist Gloria Steinem, “Women are Never Front-Runners,” written on the eve of the New Hampshire primary. Steinem argued the gender barrier had not yet been broken and asked, “Why is the sex barrier not taken as seriously as the racial one?”
Ayers and Dohrn charged Steinem had asserted a “superior victim status on the part of white, powerful women.”
Ayers and Dohrn haven’t changed a bit.
They’re still radical marxists only today they are working in education.

Now, Obama is already talking about getting out and getting out quick. The Politico reported:
President Barack Obama’s strategy for Afghanistan will include a plan for “how we’re going to get folks out” after a secure environment can be passed to the Afghan government, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters aboard Air Force One on Thursday.
“We have been there for eight years. And we’re not going to be there forever,” Gibbs said. “It’s important to fully examine not just how we’re going to get folks in but how we’re going to get folks out.”
Gibbs spoke en route to Alaska, where the president stopped at an Air Force base in Anchorage before traveling on to Tokyo for his maiden trip to Asia, which will take him to Japan, Singapore, China and South Korea.
The president “has asked for, and will want, benchmarks to evaluate our progress,” Gibbs said. “That’s part of his desire to get a sense of where we are rather than committing to an open-ended conflict.”
As President Obama continues to dither and waffle October became the deadliest month for the US in Afghanistan since the war began in 2001.

My suggestion was that we be consistent with that strategy and start talking to outlets like FOX and the Wall Street Journal. I really didn’t have a say in which press I was going to talk to, but for some reason Nicolle seemed compelled to get me on the Katie bandwagon.
“Katie really likes you,” she said to me one day. “she’s a working mom and admires you as a working mom. She has teenage daughter like you. She just relates to you,” Nicolle said. “believe me, I know her very well. I’ve worked with her.” Nicolle had left her gig at CBS just a few months earlier to hook up with the McCain campaign. I had to trust her experience, as she had dealt with national politics more than I had. But something always struck me as peculiar about the way she recalled her days in the White House, when she was speaking on behalf of President George W. Bush. She didn’t have much to say that was positive about her former boss or the job in general. Whenever I wanted to give a shout-out to the White House’s homeland security efforts after 9/11, we were told we couldn’t do it. I didn’t know if that was Nicolle’s call.
Nicolle went on to explain that Katie really needed a career boost. “She just has such low self-esteem,” Nicolle said. She added that Katie was going through a tough time. “She just feels she can’t trust anybody.”
I was thinking, And this has to do with John McCain’s campaign how?
Nicolle said. “She wants you to like her.”
Hearing all that, I almost started to feel sorry for her. Katie had tried to make a bold move from lively morning gal to serious anchor, but the new assignment wasn’t going very well.
“You know what? We’ll schedule a segment with her,” Nicolle said. “If it doesn’t go well, if there’s no chemistry, we won’t do any others.”
Meanwhile, the media blackout continued. It got so bad that a couple of times I had a friend in Anchorage track down phone numbers for me, and then I snuck in calls to folks like Rush Limbaugh, Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity and someone I thought was Larry Kudlow but turned out to be Neil Cavuto’s producer.
If Nicolle Wallace truly believed that Couric cared about Sarah, or the wellbeing of any conservative for that matter, she was complelely out of touch with the real world.
Laura Ingraham blasted the state-run media for feigning outrage after she said “Pelosi did everything but sell her body to get nationalized health care legislation passed but sell her body,” yet they daily ignore sexually offensive remarks about conservatives.

The Obama Administration will send 9-11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammad and four other Gitmo detainees to New York to face trial in a civilian court. MSNBC reported, via Free Republic:
Self-proclaimed Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four other Guantanamo Bay detainees will be sent to New York to face trial in a civilian federal court, an Obama administration official said Friday.
The official said Attorney General Eric Holder plans to announce the decision later in the morning.
The official is not authorized to discuss the decision before the announcement, so spoke on condition of anonymity.
Bringing such notorious suspects to U.S. soil to face trial is a key step in President Barack Obama’s plan to close the terror suspect detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Obama initially planned to close the detention center by Jan. 22, but the administration is no longer expected to meet that deadline.

The New York case may also force the court system to confront a host of difficult legal issues surrounding counter-terrorism programs begun after the 2001 attacks, including the harsh interrogation techniques once used on some of the suspects while in CIA custody. The most severe method — waterboarding, or simulated drowning — was used on Mohammed 183 times in 2003, before the practice was banned.
This is guaranteed to be a circus.

Pakistan’s premier intelligence building was blown up by a suicide car bomber today. The Age reported:
Seven people were killed and 35 others wounded when a bomb exploded outside the offices of Pakistan’s premier intelligence agency in the city of Peshawar on Friday, security officials said.
Witnesses said the headquarters of the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) in the northwestern city was heavily damaged after the blast, with huge clouds of smoke spewing into the sky and debris littered on the ground.
The building was almost destroyed and even a building across the road badly damaged, an AFP reporter said. He saw three bodies lying on the ground.

Get this. The Obama administration intends to purge Republicans from the civil service retroactive to five years ago starting in the year 2010. I found this at RedState.com: “Via Instapundit comes word that the federal government’s Office of Personnel Management (OPM) intends to purge the federal government of Republican civil servants all in the name of purifying the federal bureaucracy.” I’ve got the copy of the Office of Personnel Management memo right here in my formerly nicotine-stained fingers. I will explain how this works later on in the program, but I just wanted to get this out there.

Radical Imam Siraj Wahhaj said the FBI and CIA were the “real terrorists.”
A radical New York Imam who defended the World Trade Center bombers attended a summit yesterday in New York City on the Fort Hood shootings. The New York Post reported, via Ace of Spades:
A controversial imam who was an “unindicted co-conspirator” in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing was among a group of Muslim leaders invited yesterday to a meeting with Mayor Bloomberg at City Hall.
Siraj Wahhaj has defended the convicted WTC bomb plotters, called the FBI and CIA the “real terrorists,” and said he hopes all Americans eventually become Muslim.
He was among religious and civic leaders who met with Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Ray Kelly to discuss the deadly Fort Hood shooting spree.
Wahhaj was one of 170 people identified in 1995 as unindicted co-conspirators in the attack two years earlier. He has denied any involvement.
Wahhaj said Bloomberg invited him to the roundtable and shook his hand when he entered the meeting room, which was closed to reporters.
“I think that if the mayor had any discomfort he would not have invited me,” said Wahhaj, an imam at Masjid Al-Taqwa in Brooklyn.
Bloomberg, however, initially claimed not to know Wahhaj was there.
As he was leaving, a Channel 2 reporter asked the mayor if he was uncomfortable about Wahhaj’s presence.
“I don’t know. He’s not here,” the mayor responded. When told that Wahhaj was in fact in the meeting, Bloomberg reversed course.
“That one. Yes. We have to talk to everybody,” he said. “That’s what dialogue is all about. That’s how you prevent tragedies.”

Now the military genius in chief has refused to accept any of the recommendations for Afghanistan from this top brass.

President Barack Obama does not plan to accept any of the Afghanistan war options presented by his national security team, pushing instead for revisions to clarify how and when U.S. troops would turn over responsibility to the Afghan government, a senior administration official said Wednesday.
Obama is still close to announcing his revamped war strategy — most likely shortly after he returns from a trip to Asia that ends on Nov. 19.
But the president raised questions at a war council meeting Wednesday that could alter the dynamic of both how many additional troops are sent to Afghanistan and what the timeline would be for their presence in the war zone, according to the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss Obama’s thinking.
The president is considering options that include adding 30,000 or more U.S. forces to take on the Taliban in key areas of Afghanistan, and to buy time for the Afghan government’s small and ill-equipped fighting forces to take over. The other three options on the table are ranges of troop increases, from a relatively small addition of forces to the roughly 40,000 that the top U.S. general in Afghanistan prefers, according to military and other officials.
The key sticking points appear to be timelines and mounting questions about the credibility of the Afghan government.
Three months after his top general in Afghanistan asked for reinforcements Obama is still dithering and waffling.

President Obama’s hand-picked replacement commander in Afghanistan, GEN McChrystal, delivered his Afghanistan war plans to President Obama on 8/30/09, and President Obama hasn’t acted on his General’s recommendations as of today, 11/11/09. That’s 73 days, and waiting.

Democratic leaders turned away 11 votes that would have required Congress to enroll in Pelosicare. CNS news reported:
More than 200 amendments were rejected by the House Rules Committee ahead of Saturday’s vote on the Democrats’ health care bill, including 11 that would have required members of Congress and other government officials to be enrolled in the same federal insurance plan proposed for the American people.
Critics of the health care bill said they offered the 11 amendments – including some that would require the president, vice president, and Supreme Court justices to give up their Federal Employees Health Benefit Program (FEHBP) to enroll in the ‘public option’ or Medicaid – to showcase the problems with the massive legislation.
“If Congress forces our constituents into a public option plan over time, then members of Congress should be expected to do the same,” Rep. Howard McKeon (R-Calif.) told CNSNews.com.
The House Rules Committee attempt was the second time McKeon had tried to amend the Democrats’ health plan to include legislators in the public option.
“Democrats voted down a similar amendment, 21-18, in the Ways and Means Committee during the July markup of HR 3200,” McKeon said. “It became apparent then that Democrats are afraid of being put on a government-run health care program, but that fear does not extend to the welfare of their own constituents.”
But, be careful coming out of that closet.
They don’t have a very stellar track record.
A group of moderate Muslim scholars have recognized homosexuality as natural and from God. The Jakarta Times reported:
Homosexuals and homosexuality are natural and created by God, thus permissible within Islam, a discussion concluded here Thursday.
Moderate Muslim scholars said there were no reasons to reject homosexuals under Islam, and that the condemnation of homosexuals and homosexuality by mainstream ulema and many other Muslims was based on narrow-minded interpretations of Islamic teachings.
Siti Musdah Mulia of the Indonesia Conference of Religions and Peace cited the Koran’s al-Hujurat (49:3) that one of the blessings for human beings was that all men and women are equal, regardless of ethnicity, wealth, social positions or even sexual orientation.
“There is no difference between lesbians and nonlesbians. In the eyes of God, people are valued based on their piety,” she told the discussion organized by nongovernmental organization Arus Pelangi.
“And talking about piety is God’s prerogative to judge,” she added.
“The essence of the religion (Islam) is to humanize humans, respect and dignify them.”
Musdah said homosexuality was from God and should be considered natural, adding it was not pushed only by passion.
Mata Air magazine managing editor Soffa Ihsan said Islam’s acknowledgement of heterogeneity should also include homosexuality.
That was bold.

The JCT letter makes clear that Americans who do not maintain acceptable health insurance coverage and who choose not to pay the bills new individual mandate tax (generally 2.5% of income), are subject to numerous civil and criminal penalties, including criminal fines of up to $250,000 and imprisonment of up to five years.”

Republicans now lead democrats in the latest generic congressional ballot. Gallup reported:
Republicans have moved ahead of Democrats by 48% to 44% among registered voters in the latest update on Gallup’s generic congressional ballot for the 2010 House elections, after trailing by six points in July and two points last month.
And, just wait until Americans realize that Dear Leader and the democrats have tripled the national budget deficit and nearly doubled the unemployment rate.
That ought to go over like a lead balloon with likely voters.
No wonder the state-run media doesn’t dwell on it.
Democrats do the impossible… OpenMarket.org reported today that the US unemployment rate has finally topped Europe.
Unemployment is now higher in the U.S. than in Europe, reports the Washington Post. “The official U.S. unemployment rate, reported last Friday, now stands at 10.2 percent,” compared to “9.7 percent” in Europe. This is the highest rate in more than 26 years, and marks a huge change from the recent past, in which unemployment was double the American rate in much of Europe.
Unemployment is at 10 percent in France, which refused to adopt a U.S.-style stimulus package, and only 7.6 percent in Germany, which adopted a stimulus package that was smaller relative to its economy than ours was. (Countries that refused to adopt big stimulus packages have fared better than those that imitated President Obama. And the biggest-spending countries have suffered worst in the recession.)
A “broader measure of U.S. unemployment,” including discouraged workers, puts U.S. unemployment at 17.5 percent, reports the New York Times.
As the Post notes, “For many on the left, the lament for years has been: Why can’t America be more like Europe? Why can’t rustic Americans be more like sophisticated Europeans? The sentiment has resurfaced in recent months as the health-care debate has raged on — why can’t the American health-care system be more like Europe’s?”
Well, America is now more like Europe when it comes to unemployment. But not when it comes to social benefits and protections. The American Left knows how to import Europe’s failures, but not its successes.
But, don’t for one minute think that this bunch is through destroying the economy…

The Iraqi government has sued the far left British Guardian newspaper for defaming Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki in a recent article. The court ordered The Guardian to pay Maliki $86,000 for the April article.
France News 24 reported:
A British newspaper has been ordered to pay Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki financial compensation for describing him as increasingly autocratic in an article, the paper said Wednesday.
An Iraqi court upheld a complaint of defamation against the prime minister and ordered the Guardian pay him 100 million dinar (52,000 pounds, 86,000 dollars), the newspaper said.
The court supported a complaint by Maliki’s intelligence service against the newspaper over the article written in April by a local Iraqi reporter.
The article quoted unnamed members of the Iraqi national intelligence service who claimed that the prime minister was beginning to run Iraqi affairs with an authoritarian hand.
British Foreign Secretary David Miliband told the Guardian: “I was very concerned to hear reports of today’s court ruling. Media freedom is vital in any democracy.”
The Guardian said it would appeal the decision, which it described as a further blow to free speech in the war-torn country.

Yesterday, a group of right-of-center students held a protest to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall on the lawn outside the Ann W. Olin Women’s Building at Washington University in St. Louis.
Campus officials shut it down. It was too offensive.
They didn’t want anyone to be offended.
But, it’s not over yet.

A prominent Columbia architecture professor punched a female university employee in the face at a Harlem bar during a heated argument about race relations, cops said yesterday.
Police busted Lionel McIntyre, 59, for assault yesterday after his bruised victim, Camille Davis, filed charges.
McIntyre and Davis, who works as a production manager in the school’s theater department, are both regulars at Toast, a popular university bar on Broadway and 125th Street, sources said.
The professor, who is black, had been engaged in a fiery discussion about “white privilege” with Davis, who is white, and another male regular, who is also white, Friday night at 10:30 when fists started flying, patrons said.

Well, look, we — we have seen, in the past, rampages of this sort. And in a country of 300 million people, there are going to be acts of violence that are inexplicable. Even within the extraordinary military that we have — and I think everybody understands how outstanding the young men and women in uniform are under the most severe stress — there are going to be instances in which an individual cracks. I think the questions that we’re asking now and we don’t have yet complete answers to is, is this an individual who’s acting in this way or is it some larger set of actors? You know, what are the motivations? Those are all questions that I think we have to ask ourselves. Until we have these answers buttoned down, I’d rather not comment on it.
When have we had another instance when 13 soldiers were slaughtered by a devout Muslim from a radical mosque screaming “Alluha Akbar” while he shoots them dead?

Rep. Lynn Woolsey wants the Catholic Church audited after the House voted to defund abortion in their nationalized health care bill.
The legislation to refuse abortion funding will likely be stripped from the bill during negotiations with senate democratic leaders. The Politico reported:
I expect political hardball on any legislation as important as the health care bill.
I just didn’t expect it from the United States Council of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).
Who elected them to Congress?
The role the bishops played in the pushing the Stupak amendment, which unfairly restricts access for low-income women to insurance coverage for abortions, was more than mere advocacy.
They seemed to dictate the finer points of the amendment, and managed to bully members of Congress to vote for added restrictions on a perfectly legal surgical procedure.
And this political effort was subsidized by taxpayers, since the Council enjoys tax-exempt status.
When I visit churches in my district, we are very careful to keep everything “non-political” to protect their tax-exempt status.
The IRS is less restrictive about church involvement in efforts to influence legislation than it is about involvement in campaigns and elections.
Given the political behavior of USCCB in this case, maybe it shouldn’t be.
In October 2006 CNN broadcast scenes from an al-Qaeda snuff film on the air showing a US soldier being shot dead in Iraq.
But they wouldn’t show the Danish Mohammad cartoons out of fear that they would upset a certain group of radicals.
Now, the Mudville Gazette is reporting that CNN distorted a soldier’s words to defend the radical Islamic killer at Fort Hood:
Foster was not only there, not only sitting in the second row – he was one of those wounded in the attack. But two minutes later in the interview, Foster would try to downplay Roberts’ implication that he was a hero:
ROBERTS: So you were acting like a soldier. You were acting heroically. We should point out that you’re with the 20th Engineer Battalion and despite your best efforts and I guess the efforts of your comrades, as well, four members of the battalion were killed, 10 others were injured. And you were shot in the hip and you didn’t realize it at the time?
Foster: I had realized it at first, but with that much adrenaline, you tend to forget things.
Meaning very specifically that an adrenaline rush can help you overcome pain – or in Foster’s case forget you’ve been shot. That’s a common combat story, but true of any violent situation. But here’s how CNN is reporting their own interview now:
Among the wounded in the shooting was Pvt. Joseph Foster, 21, who was hit in the hip as he sat at the base’s military processing center, preparing paperwork for his January deployment to Afghanistan.
He said he “was sitting in about the second row back when the assailant stood up and yelled ‘Allahu akbar’ in Arabic and he opened fire,” Foster said Monday on CNN’s “American Morning.”
Foster, 21, said he wasn’t clear about whether the gunman said those exact words, noting that “with that much adrenaline, you tend to forget things.”
And hero or not, that’s what you get for telling CNN something they don’t want to hear.

…You don’t get PTSD from sitting on your ass around Walter Reed. Not only is it not possible to “catch” secondhand PTSD, but it is not that kind of a place. I would know, I was a patient there for nine months. The place is simply not that stressful or chaotic. When I was there my PTSD got better, not worse. And I would be willing to bet my dog tags that I saw far more wounded Soldiers than sh-t bag Major did during our overlapping time there in 2007. I regularly visited Ward 57 to give advice to the new wounded. Other Soldiers and amputees did it for me when I was there so I considered my visits “paying it forward”. I had daily physical and occupational therapy with other Soldiers. I regularly partook in activities in and out of Walter Reed with present and past wounded Soldiers. To say that this guy got PTSD from being stationed at Walter Reed is an absolute farce. The people who are making this sh-t up have never set foot on Walter Reed, let alone met a soldier with PTSD.

The two Koreas briefly exchanged naval fire Tuesday along their disputed western sea border, with a North Korean ship suffering heavy damage before retreating, South Korean military officials said.
There were no South Korean casualties, the country’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement, and it was not immediately clear if there were any casualties on the North Korean side. Each side blamed the other for violating the sea border.
The clash — the first of its in kind in seven years — occurred as U.S. officials said President Barack Obama has decided to send a special envoy to Pyongyang for rare direct talks on the communist country’s nuclear weapons program. No date has been set but it would be the first one-on-one talks since Obama took office in January. Obama is due in Seoul next week.
“It’s a regrettable incident,” South Korean Commodore Lee Ki-sik told reporters in Seoul. “We are sternly protesting to North Korea and urging it to prevent the recurrence of similar incidents.”
They must have forgotten that Obama was president.
The trial began on Monday for Obama supporter and Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon on corruption charges.
Dixon was a top Obama supporter during the 2008 election.

Mayor Sheila Dixon went on trial on corruption charges on Monday, the result of a state inquiry started in 2006 that has cast a cloud over Ms. Dixon’s administration despite her best efforts to keep the focus on running the city.
The case involves seven counts of theft and embezzlement stemming from accusations that Ms. Dixon used $1,500 worth of gift cards intended for needy families while she was City Council president and mayor.
Ms. Dixon is also likely to face a second trial on two perjury counts in the coming months. Those charges stem from an accusation that Ms. Dixon failed to report gifts on city ethics forms — cash, travel and clothes — from Ronald H. Lipscomb, whom Ms. Dixon dated in 2003 and 2004. During those years, Mr. Lipscomb’s company received millions of dollars’ worth of city tax credits for its development projects.
One international leader was conspicuously absent at the 20 Year Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall today.

The students of Young Americans for Liberty hosted a rally to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall at noon today on the lawn outside the Ann W. Olin Women’s Building at Washington University.
The students set up a gulag complete with prisoners, guards and barb wire on the Wash U campus.
Students constructed a memorial to the victims of socialism as a stark reminder of the horrors of socialism, and of its victims.
“We’re hoping to elevate the thinking of students about the connection between socialism, tyranny, and murder. Too often, we tend to think about state control in the abstract. This event is an opportunity to show the student body what socialism really is,” said junior Dirk Doebler, student leader of Young Americans for Liberty and lead organizer of the event. “We’re just twenty years away from the collapse of the Soviet Union’s despotic enslavement of hundreds of millions of people, yet everyone seems to forget that socialism killed over 150,000,000 people in the 20th century. All that gets lost in the convenient narrative our professors would have us believe. With this event, we’re striking down false notions. We’re speaking truth to power.”

Young Americans for Liberty is a growing student group at Washington University in St. Louis. YAL agrees with Nobel Laureate in economics Frederick Hayek, that socialism leads to totalitarianism. Socialism is a faulty idea that kills. This event aims at showing the horrors of the implementation of that idea.

But, today the Western World again faces grave threats on its freedom. This time many of these dangerous forces come from within.
In America cap and trade legislation, socialized health care, record deficits, record unemployment, government takeover of banks and car companies, record spending, a collapsing economy, a democrat-media complex, anti-American forces in education and Hollywood…
There are a number of threats facing America today.
Melanie Phillips added this today, “We were fools to believe that the fall of the Berlin Wall killed off the far left.”
The end of the Cold War even led some to proclaim that this was ‘the end of history’ – which was to say that liberal democracy was now the dominant and unchallengeable force in the world.
However, the 9/11 attacks on America tragically proved this to be absurdly over-optimistic. The eruption of radical Islamism revealed that, while the West may have been rid of one enemy in the Soviet Union, another deadly foe had risen to take its place. So much is, sadly, all too evident.
But what is perhaps less obvious is that communism did not just vanish in a puff of historical smoke. The Soviet Union was defeated and fell apart, for sure. But the communist ideology that fuelled it did not so much disintegrate as reconstitute itself into another, even more deadly form as the active enemy of western freedom.
Subversive
Soviet Communism was a belief system whose goal was to overturn the structures of society through the control of economic and political life. This mutated into a post-communist ideology of the Left, whose no-less ambitious aim was to overturn western society through a subversive transformation of its culture.
To grasp the extent to which this has in fact taken place, we have to go back in time to well before the moment the Berlin Wall fell. The collapse of communism was actually a slow-burning process. Its moral and political bankruptcy became obvious decades before that glorious Berlin day in November 1989.
For many communist fellow travellers, the scales fell from their eyes when the Hungarian uprising was crushed in 1956. Others, over the years, lost faith not just in communism but in its less radical sister, socialism, as their core tenet of ‘equality’ proved itself in a myriad different ways to be the enemy of freedom and justice, with market forces appearing to carry the torch of liberty instead.
But as communism slowly crumbled, those on the far-Left who remained hostile towards western civilisation found another way to realise their goal of bringing it down.
This was what might be called ‘cultural Marxism’. It was based on the understanding that what holds a society together are the pillars of its culture: the structures and institutions of education, family, law, media and religion. Transform the principles that these embody and you can thus destroy the society they have shaped.
The Berlin Wall may be gone but socialism never died.
Maybe that explains why President Barack Obama will not be in Berlin today.
Or, maybe its the fact that unemployment is at a 26 year high and his administration is more focused on taking over the health care industry than they are on creating jobs?
Whatever the reason… 58% of likely voters don’t expect Barack Obama to last only one term in office. Rasmussen reported:
Fifty-eight percent (58%) of likely voters say it is at least somewhat likely the next president of the United States will be a Republican, according to the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.
The number has been trending in this direction since Democrat Barack Obama took office in January and is up 14 points since then.
Nidal Hasan was a devout Muslim who reportedly attended mosque daily. His eyes lit up when he spoke of his beloved imam.
This weekend his former preacher weighed in on the Ft. Hood massacre. Verum Serum reported this from his blog– Anwar al Awlaki Online:
Nidal Hassan [sic] is a hero. He is a man of conscience who could not bear living the contradiction of being a Muslim and serving in an army that is fighting against his own people. This is a contradiction that many Muslims brush aside and just pretend that it doesn’t exist. Any decent Muslim cannot live, understanding properly his duties towards his Creator and his fellow Muslims, and yet serve as a US soldier. The US is leading the war against terrorism which in reality is a war against Islam. Its army is directly invading two Muslim countries and indirectly occupying the rest through its stooges.
Nidal opened fire on soldiers who were on their way to be deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. How can there be any dispute about the virtue of what he has done? In fact the only way a Muslim could Islamically justify serving as a soldier in the US army is if his intention is to follow the footsteps of men like Nidal.
The heroic act of brother Nidal also shows the dilemma of the Muslim American community. Increasingly they are being cornered into taking stances that would either make them betray Islam or betray their nation. Many amongst them are choosing the former. The Muslim organizations in America came out in a pitiful chorus condemning Nidal’s operation.The fact that fighting against the US army is an Islamic duty today cannot be disputed. No scholar with a grain of Islamic knowledge can defy the clear cut proofs that Muslims today have the right -rather the duty- to fight against American tyranny. Nidal has killed soldiers who were about to be deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan in order to kill Muslims. The American Muslims who condemned his actions have committed treason against the Muslim Ummah and have fallen into hypocrisy.
But, the state-run media wants you to believe this massacre was a case of “secondary trauma.”

The state-run media thinks we’re all stupid. TIME, the former news magazine, reported today that “secondary trauma” may have driven Nidal Hasan to massacre 13 US soldiers at Fort Hood. Yahoo republished the report:
As an army psychiatrist treating soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, Major Nidal Malik Hasan had a front row seat on the brutal toll of war. It is too early to know exactly what may have triggered his murderous shooting rampage Thursday at Fort Hood – Hasan is accused of killing 12 people and wounding 32 others before he was wounded by a police officer – but it is not uncommon for therapists treating soldiers with Post Trumatic Stress Disorder (P.T.S.D.) to be swept up in a patient’s displays of war-related paranoia, helplessness and fury. (See pictures of suicide in the recruiters ranks.)
In medical parlance it is known as “secondary trauma”, and it can afflict the families of soldiers suffering from P.T.S.D. along with the health workers who are trying to cure them. Dr. Antonette Zeiss, Deputy Chief of Mental Health Services for Veteran Affairs, while not wishing to talk about the specific case of the Fort Hood slayings, explained to TIME that: “Anyone who works with P.T.S.D. clients and hears their stories will be profoundly affected.”
It’s entirely possible that other factors may have acted as a trigger for Hasan’s alleged killing spree.

Janet Napolitano told an Arab audience today that anti-Muslim sentiment will not be tolerated. FOX News reported:
“This was a terrible tragedy for all involved,” Napolitano told reporters in the United Arab Emirates’ capital Abu Dhabi. “Obviously, we object to — and do not believe — that anti-Muslim sentiment should emanate from this.”
Napolitano said her agency is working with state and local groups to try to deflect any anti-Muslim anger after the Thursday attacks by Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, a Muslim who reportedly expressed growing dismay over the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The shootings left 13 people dead and 29 wounded.
“This was an individual who does not, obviously, represent the Muslim faith,” she said after meeting with a group of women university students.
California SEIU members beat a state worker bloody because he wanted to expost the corruption within the union. CBS13 reported:
A state worker is recovering after a bloody brawl at a union hall. He says members of the local SEIU 1000 beat him up and sent him to the hospital all because he wanted to expose allegedl corruption within the union.
Ken Hamidi is a state worker at the California Franchise Tax Board. Last night he walked into a union hall in Sacramento for an SEIU local 1000 meeting.
“We had every right to be here, very simple; it wasn’t anything private or anything exclusive,” said Hamidi.
But Hamidi says the union members did not want him there.
“Three, four people jumped at me, wrestled with me, then did all that,” said Hamidi. “I was covered in blood and then over to the emergency room.”
Photos of Hamidi in the hospital show him bloodied from the brawl. So why did this happen? Besides being a state worker, Hamidi says he’s an unpaid reporter for a cable access show and a vocal critic of the SEIU. He calls the state workers’ union corrupt.
“This is a union hall that is leased and is being furnished and equipped and everything with our money,” said Hamidi.
Hamidi says he came to the hall to expose how he says SEIU union leaders are spending tens of thousands of dollars on a political race, he claims, they have no right to do. After he and a photographer walked in to the meeting, it didn’t take long for Hamidi to be right out the door and on his way to the hospital.
