To Stupak or Not to Stupak — By: Kathryn Jean Lopez

I’m getting e-mails asking: “While I respect and agree with your position on abortion, by emphasizing the Stupak amendment aren’t you in fact surrendering to Obamacare?”

A GOP aide explains in “Doctor! Doctor!” why GOP members are being urged to vote for the Stupak amendment:

Stupak should be supported because it preserves current abortion law and blocks federal funding, as well as dividing the Democratic caucus. This is the best way to defeat the bill at its next stage, one says. “The Democrats will battle it out.”

The National Right to Life Committee advisory on how — and why — they’re going to score the vote is here.
